This is a post modern villa, built with stones coming from the very same mountain that it stands on. The villa is on the west side of the island of Zakynthos in the village of Agios Leon. With amazing panoramic views towards the sunset over the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea. The wild remoteness of this idyllic villa offers the perfect private getaway, yet is still in close proximity to some of the most famous sites of Zakynthos
Accommodation at Villa Roxa is spread over a main house on two floors and a separate guesthouse in the grounds.
The ground floor of the main house is home to a bright communal area with sofas, fabulous sea views, an open fireplace, a dining table, and access via two sets of French windows to the pool terrace. This room, with its exposed stone walls, coffered ceiling with downlighting, and cool tiled floors, sets the aesthetic tone for the rest of the house.
An opening from the living area takes one into a central hallway, off which one may access a guest bathroom (also accessible from the terraces) and two bedrooms, a double and a double-twin. Both are well-appointed with luxuriously fitted en-suite shower rooms. The double-twin also has direct access to the surrounding terraces.
A flight of stairs leads from the central hallway to a long and extremely well-equipped kitchen with breakfast table and doors opening out onto a panoramic, sea-facing dining terrace. The main bedroom, a generously proportioned sea-view double, is also on the first floor. It boasts a voluptuous en-suite bathroom with corner Jacuzzi tub and separate walk-in shower.
Accommodation at Villa Roxa is completed by a guesthouse, located beneath the pool. Here there is a spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room.
Villa Roxa sits in extensive grounds that wrap around the property and offer abundant space for a variety of activities. The main terrace, accessed from the living area, the first floor kitchen (via external steps), and one of the ground floor bedrooms, hosts the fabulous infinity pool, an al fresco dining area served by a large built-in barbecue, plenty of space for soaking up the sun’s rays, and a shady sunken poolside bar. Intoxicating sea views fan out over the sea to one side and the green countryside to the other.
The kitchen (on the first floor), meanwhile, opens out onto arguably the most panoramic terrace of all. Furnished with a table and benches, it is the ideal spot for a sunset aperitif and meals under the stars and the moonlit sky.
To the other side of the villa is a shaded table tennis area, while down below the pool is another large terrace (outside the guesthouse), a children’s play area, and, hidden away, a wonderful organic vegetable garden, a labour of love for the owner, a well-known chef on the island. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the tasty seasonal produce, a real boon for those who prefer an eco-friendly way of life. A wood-fired pizza oven and dining area nearby offer yet another option for convivial al fresco meals.
